The fall calendar is denser than last year and front-loaded in a way that will make the first three weeks of October difficult for anyone trying to attend everything. Nine dates are worth holding now.
Two of them are smaller than their profile suggests. The benefit on the eleventh has cut its guest list by a third, and the opening on the nineteenth is invitation-only for the first evening despite what the listings say.
The rest are more accessible than usual, in part because three organizations moved to open ticketing this year after complaints about how the previous system worked.
